Rosman, Transylvania County: Upper French Broad Riverfest & Hellbender 20-Miler Canoe Race at Headwaters Outfitters. Put on a costume and join a team canoe relay covering 20 miles of river in two sections with a mid-race team exchange, or just show for the party in the taproom. Canoes, paddles, lifejackets (or bring your own) and transportation provided. Awards and t-shirts for racers. Food and drinks for purchase. 42 miles south of Asheville.

Dads climb The Asheville Treetops Adventure Park (two hours of sky bridges, flying hanglinder, cable walks, a zipline kayak, big air snowboard zipline, tunnels, swings, and slides) for free with any paying family member.
