Friday, October 23
Asheville: Howl-O-Ween at WNC Nature Center. Bring the kids on a guided sunset tour of the red and gray wolf habitats, then play wolf-themed games, make crafts, and enter the family-friendly costume contest at 7 pm. Designed for ages 5-12, though the whole family is welcome. Severe weather moves the event to October 24, 5 miles from downtown Asheville.

Saturday, October 24
Brevard, Transylvania County: Halloweenfest in Downtown Brevard. Heart of Brevard’s free festival fills downtown with a costume contest and parade, bounce houses, trick-or-treating, a hula hoop dance party, and craft and food vendors. Kids can also visit the Magic Book Bus, 36 miles from downtown Asheville.

Asheville, North Asheville: Beaverdam Studio Tour. Self-guided tour of 17 artists’ studios plus 7 visiting artists in the scenic Beaverdam Valley. Browse ceramics, sculpture, book arts, enamels, jewelry, painting, glasswork, textiles, photography, and wood, 4 miles from downtown Asheville.

Asheville, Downtown: Uncommon Market, Autumn Edition. Now in its 12th season, this curated outdoor market in the River Arts District brings together antiques, vintage décor, art, candles, jewelry, pottery, home furnishings, and plants. Lunch from Blue Collar Diner and Billy’s Burgers, with coffee from Starview. Friendly dogs welcome.
