August 7-8, 2020
A fantastic world cultural arts festival, LEAF Downtown, returns to downtown Asheville for the fourth year. The organizers know how to present a great shindig since they have hosted the big LEAF Festival twice a year in Black Mountain for more than 20 years. Celebrate communities, creativity, diversity, and families in the heart of downtown in Pack Square Park. Their belief is that music and art has the power to cross all social and cultural boundaries, and bring people together to learn, grow, and celebrate our diversity through creativity. These two days will be filled with international music, art, workshops, great food and drinks and plenty of family activities. There's a big emphasis on local talent. There is no admission charge!
Hours: Friday 3-10 PM, Saturday 9 AM-10 PM
Enjoy the best soul, funk, R&B and world music talent with 200 performers on three stages. 2018 headliners include funk and soul with hip-hop legend Grandmaster Flash (Friday) and Maceo Parker (Saturday).
More than 70 culinary and craft vendors (mostly local) are handpicked and roaming performers delight. They'll also have the LEAF Art Dash 5k on Saturday at 9 AM (register online).
Headliners close Friday and Saturday night with concerts ending at 10 PM. After parties are both nights at Asheville Music Hall.
To complete the festive environment, there'll be costume tents, roaming kids artists, puppets, jugglers, face painting, parades and circus arts.
Bring your blanket or chair and plenty of sunscreen.
