Blue Ridge Parkway Fall

Fall 2007 had some of the best fall leaf color in several years! On October 20, we drove the Blue Ridge Parkway from Asheville south to U.S. 74 (Milepost 443). The above photo was taken near Graveyard Fields. For the current fall leaf color forecast and report for the North Carolina mountains near Asheville, see our Fall Foliage Forecast.

The Blue Ridge Parkway rides along high ridges south of Asheville, past Mount Pisgah.

Black Balsam Knob, Blue Ridge Parkway
Taken from atop Black Balsam Knob. This is a hike not to miss! You'll feel like you are on top of the world.
It's a great place to camp as well.

View from Devil's Courthouse. Located at milepost 422.4, the Devil's Courthouse has a short but strenuous trail climbing a half mile to its peak with panoramic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. The mostly paved trail starts from the overlook parking area.
