Pearson's Falls and Glen announced it will reopen on July 24. There is now an online reservation system and a $10 entry fee for adults, $1 per child 6-12 years old. No tickets are sold to walk-up visitors. No pets. This will limit the number of daily visitors to this nearly 300-acre botanical preserve between Tryon and Saluda.
The deciduous forest is home to more than 310 species of wildflowers and plants. A glen trail leads to a 90-foot waterfall. Tryon Garden Club, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, preserved and manages the area.
New this year: the Kirby Education Pavilion, built with support from the Polk County Community Foundation, can be used by school groups, nonprofits, and community events.
The falls has closed after Hurricane Helene and its aftermath damaged the falls, the trails, and the road. The reopening was delayed but is now set for July 24 "rain or shine". Road repairs continue throughout the area, so check the website and social media for current driving directions before you head out. For more information, visit the website.
