Day 1: DuPont State Recreational Forest
While most visitors flock to Triple Falls and High Falls, we love the quieter beauty of Wintergreen and Bridal Veil Falls in DuPont State Recreational Forest, where autumn colors really pop.
Easy: Wintergreen Falls (2.75 miles RT, moderate)
Challenge: Bridal Veil Falls (4.5 miles RT, strenuous)

Day 2: Pisgah National Forest
In Pisgah National Forest, climb to John Rock's dramatic cliff face for sweeping views of Looking Glass Rock and fall color as far as you can see. Or take it easy with a waterfall stroll.
Easy: Moore Cove Falls (1.5 miles RT, easy)
Challenge: John Rock (4.7 mile loop, strenuous)

Day 3: Gorges State Park
Gorges State Park delivers waterfalls, misty gorges, and mountain views at every turn. Rainbow Falls creates actual rainbows in the mist when the sun hits just right (arrive mid-morning for the best show).
