This neighborhood block party near downtown Asheville in the historic Montford neighborhood brings together some of the best music, art and food for a free festival. It's been a local's favorite for 13 years.
Stretching from Chestnut Street to Waneta Street, the tree lined Montford Avenue festival features two stages with 20 acts performing continuously throughout the event. All the musicians have a tie to the neighborhood. New this year will be Montford Square, an entertainment space with festival favorites, the Chinese Dragon dancers, Morris Dancers, and Montford Park Players and additional acts. You can enjoy join in the an old fashioned May Pole Dance.
Meet 100 artist and craft persons featuring their amazing creations. Buy plants for your spring gardening from local nurseries. Feast on regional and international food from food trucks and vendors. Don't miss the Caribbean food by Nine Mile and Italian cuisine from Chiesa.
Surrounding the entire festival is the backdrop of Victorian, Arts and Crafts, Greek Revival and Dutch Colonial homes from the 1890s and 1920s. Stroll the oak tree lined streets.
The Montford Music and Arts Festival runs 10 AM until 7 PM on the third Saturday of every May. It's family friendly and held rain or shine.
