Great news! Pearson's Falls & Glen is coming back. The beloved Polk County preserve closed after Hurricane Helene and its aftermath damaged the falls, the trails, and the road.
Pearson's Falls & Glen is Polk County's top natural attraction. It draws more than 30,000 visitors a year to its nearly 300-acre botanical preserve between Tryon and Saluda. The deciduous forest is home to more than 310 species of wildflowers and plants. A glen trail leads to a 90-foot waterfall.
It and has undergone restoration work and will welcome visitors again in late June, according to a newsletter update from the Tryon Garden Club, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that preserved the falls.
There are several new procedures to note before you visit.
Reservations are required for all visits and must be booked in advance through the preserve's website. No walk-up entries are allowed. The reservation system will be online soon.
Admission is $10 for adults, $1 for children ages 6–12, and free for children under 5. No pets permitted.
When it first re-opens, the preserve will be open Monday through Friday only, while NCDOT completes repairs on Highway 176. Four entry times will be available each day: 9:30 am, 11:30 am, 1:30 pm, and 3:30 pm.
Road repairs continue throughout the area, so check the website and social media for current driving directions before you head out.
