Every September, raptors move south along the Appalachian ridgelines, and Grandfather Mountain sits directly in their path. The mountain's naturalists invite guests to join a citizen science project counting the birds as they pass: hawks, falcons, eagles, and other raptors catching thermals above the Mile High Swinging Bridge and the surrounding peaks. 

This is not a single event with a ticket and a time slot. It runs the entire month, included with park admission. The Hawk Watch celebrates the annual spectacle of fall raptor migration.
