The Asheville Buncombe Regional Sports Commission (ABRSC) is a nonprofit that brings premier sporting events to Western North Carolina, boosting quality of life, wellness, and the local economy. Spectators are welcome at exciting events from SoCon basketball to USTA-sanctioned tennis to the nation's longest-running African American Pro-Am golf tournament.
ABRSC's premier events include hosting the Southern Conference (SoCon). The Ingles SoCon Basketball Championships (in March) at Harrah's Cherokee Center through 2035. Asheville also hosts the annual Skyview Golf Tournament (in September). It is held at the historic Donald Ross-designed Municipal Golf Course.
Annual events include Gran Fondo Asheville (in July), a cycling race with routes up to nearly 100 miles into the mountains; the Asheville Open Juniors (also in July), a USTA-sanctioned clay-court tennis tournament at Aston Park; and the Blue Ridge Volleyball Classic (in September), an NCAA volleyball showcase (in September).
