2012 Festival has been postponed
Enjoy Celtic music, highland dancers, the parade of tartans, pipers and drummers, sheep dog demonstrations, the caber toss, tugs of war, and other feats of strength.
S.C.O.T.S., Scottish Clans of the South, presents the 11th Annual Foothills Highland Games at Jackson Park in Hendersonville. Entertainment includes Uncle Hamish and the Hooligans, Alex Beaton, Maidens IV, and Robert Mouland. You may find out you have Scottish ancestors by visiting with the Scottish Clan representatives.
Come and cheer on the traditional heavy athletics, including the ever popular turning of the Caber. Sample traditional Scottish foods, or American if you prefer. Shop the many Scottish and Celtic related vendors. Watch and learn about Scottish border collies and Hieland Coos.
The event will be preceded by a traditional Scottish Dinner, including The Haggis, on Friday November 5. Come and meet the chief of the games, the 16th Baron of Cowdenknowes, Mark Harden. Enjoy a performance by Alex Beaton. Lots of door prizes. Advance dinner tickets are available on line at http://www.scotsfoothillshg.org.
Ceilidh (party) on Saturday is held after the festival. All entertainers will perform and starts at 8 PM at the Clarion Inn. $ 10 per person at the door.
Jackson Park is located near downtown Hendersonville and is easy to access off I-26. From I-26 Eastbound: Take U.S. 64 West exit (Exit # 49B) towards downtown Hendersonville. Continue through the traffic light at end of exit ramp onto 4 Seasons Boulevard (U.S. 64) for 1.6 miles (passing 4 more traffic lights). After a wetland area on the left, turn LEFT at the 5th traffic light (Harris Street). Go 0.2 mile to STOP sign at end of street. Turn LEFT onto E. 4th Avenue, enter park and follow road to Administration Building (red-brick house on left) and parking.
Admission is $10 for adults and $7 for children 7 to 14.
