River Sculpture Outdoor Art Exhibition, Asheville

The Town of Woodfin and Reynolds Mountain announce the Third Annual RiverSculpture, a contemporary outdoor sculpture exhibition, open free to the public from September 27, 2008 to January 5, 2009. The exhibition was held in the French Broad River Park in Asheville for the previous two years.

RiverSculpture at Reynolds Mountain showcases outdoor works of art by our best regional sculptors. In 2008, sculptures and proposals were submitted by sculptors from Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. Work was selected by a jury that included Ethan Karp, Co-Director of OK Harris Gallery in New York.

Thirty sculptures will be displayed over 24 acres of Reynolds Village, the site of Woodfin’s soon-to-be-built downtown, just north of Asheville. In addition, a series of special events is planned for the weekends, integrating kids art, music, dance and theater with the sculpture. Dates and times will be posted on www.riversculpture.com.

RiverSculpture is curated by Asheville resident Robert Winkler, an internationally exhibited professional sculptor. It is co-sponsored by the Town of Woodfin and Reynolds Mountain, in collaboration with the YMI Cultural Center and the Asheville Area Arts Council — and supported by generous private and corporate contributions.
