2009 DIY Blog Cabin Being Built near Asheville

Every year, the DIY (Do It Yourself) Network builds a cabin home with input from its viewers, and gives it away to one lucky winner in the DIY Blog Cabin Sweepstakes. This popular interactive television series invites the world to weigh in on key design elements of an incredible new home. You’re invited to vote each day on the home’s design and materials such as the floor plan, roof, countertops, even the front door during January and February. Construction is scheduled to occur from March through August. The show will premiere on DIY Network in August 2009. Entries for the Sweepstakes will be accepted in August through October. In November, one lucky Sweepstakes winner will be handed the keys to a beautiful new home! DIY Blog Cabin 2009 is being built in a 1,800-acre mountain community just outside Asheville, known as The Preserve at Little Pine. This scenic location features a limited number of homes situated within a pristine and natural woodland environment. Elevations of 4,000 feet provide spectacular views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and, with limitation on development, a large portion of the natural setting is permanently protected as a conservation area. The surroundings include rolling meadows, miles of hiking trails, an equestrian center, a mountain lodge, pond-side pavilion and observatory. The location is convenient to Asheville and the town of Hot Springs.

The home site for the 2009 DIY Blog Cabin is a one-acre lot with a stream running through it. The stream is crossed by a stone bridge. The floor plan is a lodge-style cabin with a vaulted ceiling, which creates an open interior. There is a finished basement with its own bathroom, and a two-story screened-in porch at the rear of the house.
