February 17-19, 2012
Asheville's annual Bluegrass First Class will be held in the Grand Ballroom of the Crowne Plaza Resort. This 3-day event will feature well known and top nationally recognized bluegrass music performers. How many of you have ever heard Dailey & Vincent play on two consecutive days? They are winners of 3-in-a-row International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Entertainers of the Year Award along with many other awards at IBMA’s annual conference and Awards Show in Nashville, TN. Now add the beautiful harmonies of IBMA’s 7-time Female Vocalist of the Year, Rhonda Vincent & The Rage along with the current IBMA Male Vocalist of the Year Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out. Rounding out this event will be the bluegrass trendsetters, The Seldom Scene, Lonesome River Band, The James King Band, and Junior Sisk & Rambler’s Choice featuring the ever popular Wyatt Rice on guitar.
Enjoy a full contingent of local and regional acts showcasing their talents in the Sunken Lobby of the Resort. There will be jamming in the halls, stairwells, alcoves, meeting rooms, and just about everywhere else. This bluegrass festival will take over the entire Resort with Bluegrass Music.
Many of the area’s finest musicians from the hot local and regional bluegrass scene, along with bluegrass music’s top acts will be on hand for an unparalleled weekend of superb acoustic music performances. In addition to the Grand Ballroom stage shows, many artists will entertain the audience in the cozy sunken lounge providing fans with an opportunity to listen to the music of these musicians in a close, intimate setting.
The Crowne Plaza Resort will be dedicated to bluegrass for the entire weekend. All of the hotel’s rooms will be occupied by bluegrass fans; and all of the facility’s meeting rooms will be set aside for picking and jamming. There is a “quiet” block consisting of a few sleeping rooms which the hotel has set aside for those who wish to relax in a no-jamming zone.
